Wireless links solar-powered wireless temperature monitoring solution integrated with telematics provides cold chain transportation and logistics companies visibility and control into the location and temperature status of their fleet and goods. The key advantage and differentiation of the solution is the solar recharge capability, which eliminates the maintenance associated with lithium battery periodic recharging, increasing productivity and efficiency while reducing maintenance costs.
Multiple wireless temperature sensors can be placed on a trailer and can easily be removed or relocated as needed. A Piccolo Plus unit is installed in the cabin. In addition to being a telematics unit, sending to the Fleet.Net platform GPS, Engine Diagnostics and Driver Behavior, it also has an RFLink module that is an Active RFID reader, receiving the temperature data from the IP67 waterproof solar-powered wireless temperature sensors mounted on the roof of refrigerated trailers or trucks. The sensors wirelessly stream the temperature of the trailers to the Piccolo Plus unit, which routes the data to the platform, adding the last GPS location to the event.
